Q: Why is it that in the state of Georgia, when one school is affected (by weather or other disruptive events), the entire county has to be shut down? Why isn’t it done on a school-by-school basis?—Ilene Troy, HoschtonA: No state law or rule says if one school needs to be closed, all schools in the district must be closed, said Dana Tofig, spokesman for the Georgia Department of Education.
